Calling Name (CNAM) Delivery Service
From the Accudata CNAM database, our Calling Name service allows Exchange Carriers to provide Caller ID for any telephone number in the North American Numbering Plan area. We can even enable CNAM display for wireless providers by displaying “wireless.” Also, Accudata has Asterisk CNAM for your Linux version and Asterisk release. VOIP service providers can use this after-modification to deliver Calling Name for Caller ID devices that are IP-enabled.
Marketing companies and lead providers validate Calling Name information associated with a telephone number to improve lead quality. Call centers update their aging customer databases with CNAM information, matching the most recent Calling Name with the telephone number.
CNAM has also recently been in the news and discussed in Congress due to number spoofing. This is the ability of some dialers, VOIP providers and other telco related companies and devices to replace the number of the outbound call with another number that may or may not be a legitimate number.
Many legitimate business concerns use spoofing to allow fundraising from a call center for charities and political parties. The spoofed number is stored in a CNAM database with the name of the campaign rather than the name associated with the actual telephone line being used. This is a helpful service, as opposed to those who are trying to hide the number from the called party.
Contact the Accudata sales department for more information about our CNAM delivery options, including CNAM delivery from AccuName the lower-cost, national Calling Name database.
